If it weren’t for Lanie to cool my blood, I’d beat him like eggs. Zach and Elaine’s older brother, Blaine, may have been best friends in HS, but he’s still a jock.

Back when I was still pretending to be vapid for the rest of the cheer squad, I had my share of run-ins with him. Mostly over him pushing Laine around. “It’s for her own good,” he’d gaw at me. Generally in the same breath of trying to get in my pants.

I don’t know why she puts up with him.
